Bowman-Oddy Laboratories and Wolfe Hall
Abstract
Description
BOWMAN-ODDY LABORATORIES - Year of construction: 1968; $4.7 million. Architects: Hahn and Hayes. Bowman-Oddy Laboratories was originally called the Biology Chemistry Building. The building was renamed to Bowman-Oddy Laboratories, after Dr. Howard H. M. Bowman and Dr. Harold G. Oddy in 1975 for their great contributions to science at The University of Toledo. Bowman-Oddy Laboratories was renovated along with Wolfe Hall in 2011 for $7.8 million. The Laboratories function today as home of the ecological, geological, and earth sciences. The Laboratories also have a greenhouse on the fifth floor that is open to students and faculty.

WOLFE HALL - Year of Construction: 1998; $33 million. Architects: SSOE, Inc. Wolfe Hall opened in 1998 as the new home of the College of Pharmacy and the Biology and chemistry departments. It was named in honor of Frederic Wolfe, chairman of First Toledo Corp. and his wife, Mary, for their $1.5 million donation to the project. In 2010, the Frederic and Mary Wolfe Center on the Health Science Campus opened and much of the College of Pharmacy moved to the new location, though pharmacy students still make use of Wolfe Hall's state-of the-art research laboratories. Wolfe Hall also contains the Biological Sciences Help Center and the Instrumentation Center, which supports the research activities of University faculty.
