| dc.description | LAW CENTER - Year of Construction: 1972; $3.7 million. Architects: Britsch, Macelwane, Poseler, and Lubeck. Established in 1906, the College of Law is one of the oldest colleges at the University of Toledo. It was first housed in University Hall (1931-1953) before moving to Gillham Hall, which was the University library at the time. When the College developed a full-time day division program in 1963, more space was necessary, which led to the development of a new Law Center. The original plan called for a 3-building complex consisting of classroom and office space, a library, and a residential area, respectively, but funding issues led to the construction of a single building. An addition in the late 1970s added more space, primarily for library purposes, and the building was further expanded and renovated in 1981. 1996 saw the dedication of the Law Center's mock courtroom, which was named for Frank and Barbara Cubbon. <br />< br>STRANAHAN HALL - Year of Construction: 1984; $6.7 million. Architects: Munger, Munger & Associates. Built near University Hall for the convenience of students taking business courses that were held there, Stranahan Hall continues the Collegiate Gothic style of the university and has won awards for its effective and efficient design. Six stories tall, the building's first floor is underground that extends under the adjacent courtyard and opens onto an amphitheater. Above ground, there is an atrium that extends up the remaining five stories. It faces Centennial Mall and is named for industrialist Robert A. Stranahan, Jr. The It serves as the home for the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation. | |
