Abstract
Description
CARTER HALL - Year of Construction: 1964/1965; $1,200,000. Architects: Richards, Bauer & Moorhead. Carter Hall was originally constructed as a men's dormitory. It was built in two phases. The west wing was completed in 1964 and was fully occupied during the construction of the east wing in 1965. It was named for Raymond Carter, Dean of Administration from 1934-1950 and acting president in 1947 and 1948. It underwent renovations in the early 1980s and mid- 1990s, and by 2017 it was no longer in use. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it served as isolation housing and in 2022 was demolished.

PARKS TOWER - Year of Construction: 1969; $7 million. Architects: Rudolph-Libbe, Inc. Parks Tower, named for Dean of Students Donald Parks, originally housed 700 students. At 16 stories tall, Parks Tower remains the tallest building on campus. The building was designed to be a coeducational building, and included a dining hall, kitchens, and more. It was first occupied in 1971. In 2019, it was extensively renovated by Champlin Architecture to become more modern and accommodating to students. Today, the tower now provides housing for co-ed Freshman exclusively.
