Description
FeO(OH) - Mohs Hardness: 5-5 1/2. Goethite is a common mineral, and is a frequent matrix material for other more aesthetic minerals. It is the most common ingredient of iron rust. Its primary use is that of an iron ore in iron and steel production. Significant deposits can be found in Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee.
