Exhibit labels:

[1] Dedication of the Rocket (1961). The Nike-Ajax rocket outside of the Glass Bowl was obtained from the Army Rocket and Guided Missile Agency, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama at the request of a University committee and the Rossford and Erie Ordnance Depots. It weighs 2,000 pounds and can be fired to supersonic velocity by a solid propellant booster. The rocket faces south and it is said that, if launched, it would land on the 50-yard line of Doyt Perry Stadium, home of the rival Bowling Green Falcons.

[2] First Class of Students at the Medical College of Ohio (1969). The Medical College of Ohio at Toledo was established by the General Assembly on December 18, 1964. Although originally planned to be built on Main Campus, a survey determined that a site near the Toledo State Hospital was better suited for the new medical school. The first class of 32 students was admitted in 1969 and conducted their studies in the former William Roche tuberculosis hospital, one of the numerous temporary facilities that comprised the medical college in its early days.
