<strong>Exhibit labels:</strong><br /><br />[1] Letter from John Mulholland (n.d.). Portion of a letter from a resident of Toledo asking city officials to investigate the legality of the University's creation and the bond issue resulting in the purchase of the land for the Bancroft campus (on the left side of the case). <br /><br />[2] Program for University Hall Cornerstone Laying Ceremony and List of Cornerstone Contents (1930). During the cornerstone laying ceremony, President Doermann placed a copper box inside the cornerstone. This box contains several items, among them a chronological history of the University, copies of the Campus Collegian, Blockhouse, Toledo City Journal, and a list of the students who participated in the bond issue campaign to raise funds for a new campus location. Students were dismissed from classes so that they could attend the ceremony. <br /><br />[3] Speech by President Henry J. Doermann (ca. 1930). Henry Doermann served as University president from 1928 until his unexpected death in 1932. During his tenure, the first two buildings on the new Bancroft campus--University Hall and the Field House--were built. In this speech, President Doermann addresses critics who felt that the new buildings were too costly and their designs "too elegant."<br /><br />[4] Issues of The Campus Collegian (1931). These issues of The Campus Collegian--from January and February 1931, respectively--feature the Field House and University Hall, both of which were completed that year.
