<strong>Exhibit labels:</strong><br /><br />[1] Opening of the SeaGate Centre (1987). A joint venture of Lucas County and the University of Toledo, the convention center expanded both the University's campus as well as its academic offerings with business and development programs. <br /><br />[2] Presidential Scholars Program (1987). The Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1986, based on a pledge made by President McComas in his inaugural address. Presidential Scholars received academic advising from the Office of the President and full scholarships that covered instructional and student fees, room and board, and other college-related expenses. This photo is of the Fall 1987 recipients with President McComas. <br /><br />[3] Increased Enrollment (1980s). The eighties was a time of growth for the University of Toledo, including record enrollment. <br /><br /> [4] Centennial Hall is renamed John F. Savage Hall (1988). John F. Savage, alumnus and major supporter of the University of Toledo, spoke at the re-dedication of Centennial Hall as John F. Savage Hall in January 1989. He was instrumental in its development, serving as co-chair of the Centennial Fund Development Program in 1973, which raised $10 million for the 9,000-seat basketball and concert arena. <br /><br /> [5] Greek Village Construction and Dedication (1989-1990). Construction for the seven-unit housing complex for fraternities and sororities commenced in the summer of 1989. The dedication ceremony took place on September 28, 1990, marking the first time in the University's history that fraternities were on campus and sororities returned to campus after an absence of eighteen years.
