Description

(Zn,Fe)S - Mohs Hardness: 3 1/2 - 4. Sphalerite is the primary ore of zinc. Zinc is used as a coating to protect iron and steel from corrosion, a process known as galvanization. Steel if often galvanized by uncoiling steel sheet and passing through a bath of molten zinc. This rust resistant steel is then used for many purposed, including the production of auto bodies.
