During his tenure, the University faced numerous problems, with financial difficulties and campus unrest being two of the most significant. This comic depicts the various forms both issues took during Carlson's presidency. [2] Centennial Celebration Artifacts (1972). Several items were created as part of the celebration of the University's 100th anniversary, including flags, license plates, and liquor bottles. The blue and gold color scheme of the license plate was chosen in honor of the centennial. This plate belonged to Jesse R. Long, former Executive Vice President.
