Abstract/Description: | This chapter follows the Civil Rights Movement from its tipping point with the murder of Emmet Till and the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955, the rise of Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960s, the emergence of the Black Power and Black Arts Movements of the 1960s and 1970s, to the protests against apartheid in the 1980s.
