Dedication of the Rocket (1961).

The Nike-Ajax rocket outside of the Glass Bowl was obtained from the Army Rocket and Guided Missile Agency, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama at the request of a University committee and the Rossford and Erie Ordnance Depots. It weighs 2,000 pounds and can be fired to supersonic velocity by a solid propellant booster. The rocket faces south and it is said that, if launched, it would land on the 50-yard line of Doyt Perry Stadium, home of the rival Bowling Green Falcons.
