Abstract

Al2Si2O5(OH)4 – Mohs Hardness: 2 – 2½. Kaolinite is the most common clay material. Entire clay deposits can be composed of this material. There are many commercial kaolinite mines where this mineral is mined in large volumes for various industrial uses. In the automobile industry it is used to alter the property of paints and to modify the properties of rubber upon vulcanization.
