Abstract

Al(OH)3 - Mohs Hardness: 1-3. The primary ore of aluminum, a mixture comprised of iron and aluminum hydroxides/oxides. Aluminum is the Earths most abundant metal. Aluminum is lightweight and corrosion resistant. It is heavily relied upon in automobile manufacturing. Australia is the top producer of bauxite with almost 1/3 of the world’s production. Other important producers include China, Brazil, and India.
